With the help of this webpage we would like to encourage future reunions of former students. We would like to stay in touch with our former students and find out in which occupational areas they found work.

What to do after finishing your studies in Polish, Russian or Czech?

This is a question that is often asked by freshmen. But it is interesting for advanced students as well. In order to give a useful answer, it is very important for us to know in which occupational areas our former students found work, i.e. what do possible professional careers for students of Slavonic Studies look like? In addition to that, we are planning to cooperate with former students and invite them to our information days to speak in front of freshmen and prospective students so that they are given the opportunity to find out first hand about the experience former students have collected in their professional life.

The first time our career information days took place was in January 2011. The event was given the name “Slavisten im Beruf“ and was part of the aforementioned conference no. VI (see "Junge Slavistik im Dialog")

Five of our former students who completed their studies between 1996 and 2008 spoke about their experience in the following professional fields: foundations, economy (recruitung), university, media and journalism.

What are my former fellow students and lectures doing now?

Unfortunately, it is often difficult to stay in contact with the people you met during your time as a student. Especially if your current place of work isn't located in Schleswig-Holstein. That is why we would like to organise future meetings of former students.

The first meeting of former students of the Department of Slavonic Studies in Kiel took place on the 22nd of January, 2011.
